Career Sacks & Tackles Mount Up as Nick Blows Up The Spartans...

Nick Kasa lowers the boom with one of his 3 sacks last Friday night against Greeley West

In what several Lightning fans thought was possibly his best game as a varsity player, Nick Kasa literally flew around District 6 stadium in Greeley last Friday night. Despite playing every offensive and defensive snap Nick ended up with 11 tackles and 3 sacks and seemed as fresh in the 4th quarter with the game on the line as he was in the 1st half.

At half time Larry Kasa (Nick's father) knew it was a special night. "He's on fire tonight..." Larry said on his way to stock up on hot cocoa. The Lightning ended up posting their third straight shutout.

Nick's 11 tackles gives him 180 for his career. With 2 games plus the playoffs ahead Nick needs 35 to break the career Lightning mark of 214 held by Cody Kincaid (2000-03). Nick added to his career sack mark with 3 Friday night giving him a total of 29.

Nick Takes Second Official Visit

Nick Kasa's Saturday following the Lightning 6-0 win against Greeley West started early.... At 6:00 AM he was off to Gainsville, FL to spend the day with the University of Florida football familyand watch the Gators beat LSU Saturday night at the Swamp.

Will Nick end up a Gator, Duck, Bear, Buffalo, or Fightin' Irish? Stay Tuned...

We ran this post on the Lightning Team Blog - We had to repeat it here...

In addition to being the No. 1 high school football player / prospect in the state of Colorado Nick Kasa is now one of the most versitile.

Since fall practice has begun the 6' 7" 254 lb defensive terror has also been working at offensive line. This move will mean that Kasa will have to abandon his ever present #44 to #77 for now.

Will he be playing both ways? Will he get #44 back to be eligible to catch passes like he did against Mullen in the playoffs last year?
A lot of questions still remain...but one thing is clear, Offense or Defense, we are glad Nick is on our side of the ball.
We will keep you updated on Nick through the season!
Go #44/77 - Go Lightning
